The Experience of Working with Burnhouse Engineering
At Burnhouse Engineering, we pride ourselves on going the extra mile to provide lifetime value with the work we create. We’d like to tell you about a job we recently worked on for a well-known pharmaceutical company, where we were enlisted to help with a time-sensitive project.
To complete the project, we had to take advantage of our portable orbital welding kit and overcome some challenges the client was having with delivering the project on time. One of these challenges required P&IDs to be altered and reviewed, however while we were in possession of CAD files for this, we had no software to access them.
This was solved after some more discussions, however once we finally could access them, we discovered they were actually incorrect. It took several more visits to amend this, after which the P&IDs were altered to suit the new project and we could finally begin practical work. Now knowing the requirements, we could put a program of works together- however the deadline we were initially given was rapidly approaching.
Additional contractors were also enlisted onto the project who we were to coordinate with, specifically a walling contractor since part of the job required fitting pipes between two walls.
The valve and pressure gauge needed to be accessed in a recessed stainless box, and the client had given us a specific valve that they wanted installed onto the system- however this product was on a very long lead time, so we had to go searching for another provider who could deliver it sooner.
We searched high and low until we had a conversation with Charlie at Gemu, who thought they might be able to help. We waited with bated breath to hear back until word finally came: they had received the valve in time, news that both us and the client were very grateful to hear.
The rest of the job went seamlessly. At one point we did have to squeeze our piping into a wall cavity to reduce the potential area where bacteria could grow. After that, we just had to finish off the project by passivating the pipework and producing the turnover package for the Validation team. Everything was included: weld procedures and qualifications, surface roughness checks, 3D drawings of the new system and passivation certificates.
Overall, we were very pleased with the outcome of this quality Pharmaceutical project, and were able to complete it on time to exact customer and professional standards.
